eyelash extensions and skincare,

eyelash extensions. info

a full set of professional semi-permanent eyelash extensions are single strands of synthetic or mink lashes that are applied to one's own natural lashes with medical grade adhesive, 1mm from the eyelid and never the skin.they are customized by color, volume and length to satisfy a natural or outstanding look. clients are comfortably reclined on an esthetic bed with their eyes closed and lower eyelashes are covered preventing the top eyelashes from adhering to the bottom lashes. this procedure takes up to 2 hours to complete. By choosing a certified professional you can ease any worry. this is non-invasive and painless service. they will not destroy your natural lashes and may have ability for some clients to last up to 5 weeks. we use high quality faux mink imported from france and 100% mink from Siberia that provides ultimate luster, sheen and versitile looks based on how they are applied. In our oppinion, these 2 chosen materials create the best looking lashes..

natural eyelash. growth cycle

The two biggest determinants of how long eyelash extensions will last are 1) how well the after care instructions are followed, and 2) the natural eyelash growth cycle. Simply put, the natural eyelash growth cycle is the length of time before an eyelash falls out Hair grows in cycles, and each cycle has three phases - growth (anagen), transition (catagen), and resting (telogen). Hair only grows during the first phase, and then it transitions and "rests" until it falls out. The three phases of the hair growth cycle differ in duration depending on body location. For example, hair on your head has a much longer growth phase than your eyelashes do, which is why the hair on your head can grow longer and longer while your eyelashes only grow so long. Once your eyelashes stop growing, they transition to the resting phase where they remain until falling out. While the eyelash is resting, the growth cycle starts over again and the new eyelash pushes the old one out.

Everybody has unique hair growth cycles, and at any given time not all hairs and eyelashes are in the same phase - some are growing while others are resting. In general, I recommend eyelash extension touch-ups every 3 weeks to replace any eyelashes that may have fallen out but if you want them to look full and perfect all the time, our weekly options are available to fit your needs.

fills. info

like your natural hair, natural eyelashes grow and shed in a cycle. the cycle is typically every 60-90 days. when a natural eyelash falls out, a new eyelash has already been growing to replace it. up to five natural eyelashes can shed each day. semi-permanent eyelash extensions will remain in place until the natural eyelash on which it has been placed falls out. lash touch-ups are necessary every 3 weeks max to maintain your investment.

because our adhesives are made safer, they are easier on the natural lashes which wont chemically burn, dry out or cause lash breakage to your natural lashes like some that are so strong and durable, but just weaken and damage the natural hair.

those who practice a healthy lifestyle, have a clean diet, healthy skin and are free from major environmental allergies are those who have successfully maintained the best lash experience on a consistant basis.

latisse, biotin and revitalash clients? welcome.

***PLEASE NOTE: full sets applied by other salons/individuals cannot in good faith work "on top" of another's work and guareentee it. If you unknowingly trusted someone unqualified to apply your extensions and are having a bad experience, please schedule a professional removal.  A full removal will stop your lashes from shedding in clumps or possibly leaving you with bald spots.  If you would like a proper, fresh full set applied after removal, please schedule your session for that. Dependant on their condition, we may encourage a resting period for ill applied lashes for the best eye protection and safety.

hygene. cleansing eyelash extensions

plain and simple, eyelashes main purpose of existance is to serve as a netting to protect the eye from any dust particles, dander, dirt etc... when we add eyelash extensions to the natural eyelash, we maximize the intensity of this netting... therefore...

women want those glamorous, long eyelash extensions but some are too afraid to touch them or get them wet.  first of all it’s ok to get eyelash extensions wet – just not the first 24 hours.  After that you can swim, shower and take a stroll in the rain if you want and without an umbrella!  You need to keep your eyelash extensions clean otherwise, although rare, there is risk the chance of developing Blepharitis.  Blepharitis is a condition of the eyes that causes inflammation and possible infection of the eyelid due to a blocked eyelash follicle due to poor lash hygene. The blockage normally occurs from sebum (oil), dead skin cells and bacteria on the natural lash follicle. Over time without treating this condition the hair follicle can become inflamed and eventually causing the lashes to become thinner and sparser.

Some symptoms of Blepharitis are as follows:
Burning Sensation
White flaking on and between lashes
Crusting on the eyelids
Swollen eyes
Itchiness
Redness
As a specialty eyelash facility, we feel it's important that clients are educated to differ eyelash extension myths to factual safe and professional standards. That being said, It is important to clean lashes and lid area to prevent  Blepharitis  from occurring whether they wear makeup or not.  Lashes should be cleaned at least 2-3 times per week for non-makeup wearing clients and nightly for clients who do wear eye makeup.  A couple of cleansing options are LashFresh Clean Wash, a gentle, organic cleanser that removes mascara and other makeup around the eyes, LashFresh Hydra Mist that can be used throughout the day to keep lashes hydrated and clean as well as helps to relieve any itching, irritation or inflammation. Use with a microbrush applicator to get in between the lashes.  A normal Q-tip that has a pointier tip to clean in between the lashes, such as the Essence of  Beauty Multi Purpose Cotton Cosmetic Applicators or Swisspers Cotton Applicators.  These are great for removing eyeliner and eyeshadow.
If you as a lash client have any moderate symptoms, you need to inform your eyelash specialist immediately. She will then take the proper percautions to handle per individual case which may either be a recommendation of cleansing, to the removal of lashes and referral to an eye specialist as a last resort. The eyelash specialist will probably recommend a warm compress on the eyes and lid ointment.  This condition can be managed and you will again be able to wear extensions. You should NEVER feel any discomfort from eyelash extensions and this is rare with a certified specialist howerver, any problems or sensation to the area that is uncomfortable, especially for first time lashes, inform your specialist immediately for advice and care.

 chemical peel. info

as scary as it may sound, we are not talking battery acid! picturing the sex in the city episode when Samantha Jones came out as red as a tomatoe after her chemical peel is what we imagine our faces to be.. a simple over exaggeration.. funny though! chemical peels are part of a skin exfoliation process that ranges from extremely mild to more intense strength. quite frankly, to recieve a major peel, you would traditionally visit your dermatologist for dermal strength treatments as such. as an esthetician, we are clearly licensed for epidermal treatments only... our exfoliating scrubs, chemical and mechanical peel treatments specifically target each skin type and concern. urban butterfly offers safe, non abrasive peels with proper effective results with a series of treatments.

During your visit recieving a peel, you will be deep steam cleansed, folllowed by a liquied application to the skin surface avoiding eye and sensitive areas around the nose. you can expect a light heated, tingling sensation that usually lasts the first minute or two upon application. A quick process, your peel remains on the skin from 5min - 15min depending on strength and type. your skin is then infused with soothing and calming serums, moisture and SPF to cool, heal, seal and protect the skin. Post treatment, you are encouraged to stay away from direct sunlight for up to 2 weeks. This allows your skin to rejuvinate and repair after your treatment as sunlight can bring more damage to the skin after a fresh peel if not protected during this time.

unlike the rest, our innovate style for skincare is to offer our clients, individually ultimate repairing mini-treatments in as little as 30 minutes. Then you are in control of customizing the rest for what you need additionally at that very moment. Any further questions, please feel free to contact urban butterfly for answers. we are always here to help you.
